SkillsUSA is a national nonprofit organization serving teachers and high school and college students who are preparing for careers in trade occupations and technical and skilled service trade occupations. It was formerly known as VICA (Vocational Industrial Clubs of America).
SkillsUSA offers leadership, citizenship, and character development programs as well as activities to complement skill training available in high schools and technical colleges. It helps students to better prepare themselves for the labor market. SkillsUSA emphasizes respect for the dignity of work, high standards in trade ethics, workmanship, scholarship, and safety. It promotes understanding of the free enterprise system and encourages development of patriotism through the practice of democracy in the chapter. Professional development, leadership, and total quality management practices are emphasized.
