Critically assess needs and provide ongoing professional development by considering the following questions.

  • How comforatable are advisors with facilitating groups?
  • How comfortable are advisors with coaching and supporting individual students?
  • How comfortable are the advisors with the content for their groups?

Offer advisors an experience similar to what you expect them to deliver. As a practice in some schoolsl, staff meeetings take place the day prior to the advisement period with the only item on the agenda being to teach gradel-level advisors the upcoming advisory lesson in the way they are being asked to deliver it to students.
